Current Endeavors

You have caught me during my gap year!
At the end of 2023, I graduated as the top student in the UCT Engineering & Built Environment faculty, a milestone that marked the culmination of years of dedication and sacrifice. Following this achievement, I made the decision to delay postgraduate studies and take a gap year- an opportunity to restore balance and develop other aspects of my person.
The year began in Sydney, where my girlfriend and I worked at a café for three months, saving funds for the journey ahead. After a brief return to South Africa, we set off for Europe with a loose plan to backpack from East (Turkey) to West (Portugal), incorporating Workaway jobs along the way. Over the course of our travels, we explored 15 countries, experiencing challenges and triumphs that will take time to fully unpack. What stands out most is the overwhelming kindness and warm welcomes we received, the enriching conversations, and the delightful eccentricities that come with meeting people from all walks of life.

They say the best learning happens through observation and participation, and in that sense, I spent the year at a university without walls. During this time, my aspirations gradually took shape and have since solidified, with my sights now firmly set on pursuing postgraduate studies—specifically, a master’s in robotics.

Now back home in Cape Town, I am now both motivated and excited to begin my postgraduate career. I am eager to contribute to meaningful projects where I can add value and gain valuable insights. For this reason, I am always open to interesting ideas.
